Visakhapatnam: Two paratroopers from the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy accidentally landed in the sea instead of on the beach during a rehearsal for an operational demonstration at RK Beach on Thursday, after losing control of their parachutes.

A senior Indian Navy official present at the site explained that the suspension lines connecting the canopy to the riser became entangled while descending.

“This could have been caused by the wind. They landed in the sea instead of the sand,” the official said.

Eyewitnesses reported that a Gemini boat quickly reached the spot and rescued the paratroopers. Fortunately, they did not sustain any injuries during the descent.
