WAKRO, Nov 29: The Anu Shiksha Seva Trust (ASSET) had organised weeklong celebration to mark birthday of Lt Gen Sanjeev Chauhan, a highly decorated and distinguished senior Indian Army officer.
The ASSET, which sponsored free cataract surgery for two persons in Chennai’s Sankara Nethralaya to mark the occasion- Sanjeev Utsav-, and lauded Dr Vinata Muralidharan for guidance and support. Moreover, school bags of Beena Ghose Roy Enclave were gifted to rural school children by corporate leader-cum-philanthropist Manoj Jalan, community leader Baling Ngadong and Sri Sri Rural Development Program project manager Ashok Harishchandre.
The well designed school bags gifted by Col Venkat Baba and Bangaluru bureaucrat Nishchith were also given to ASSET students (Apnes), while Col Venkat assured ASSET his continued support.
Addressing the valedictory function, Jalan guided the students and community saying hardwork may not always bring success as success and failures are part of life. “Education should empower us to accept life as it unfolds and live a balanced life,” he said and exhorted all to make sincere efforts to improve oneself, contribute to nation building. He also gave away Sanjeev Prakalp financial help to three elders along with special gifts followed by cultural programme.
Lt Gen Chauhan, who served as Indian Army Infantry Division GOC, before being transferred as Chennai OTA commandant, was instrumental in developing bonhomie between the forces and the civilians and facilitated development of border areas, particularly promoting games & sports and girls’ education. The locals fondly recall his invaluable services for their greater welfare.
Vineeta Jalan of Surajmal Jalan Charitable Trust gave generous donation to ASSET for its welfare initiatives, ASSET chairman Rohinso Krisikro said in a release,
