Puducherry:Left parties in Puducherry have called for a thorough investigation by the Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) into a recent scandal involving forged documents used to secure MBBS admissions under the NRI quota.
Leaders from the Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) met with Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan on Thursday to express their concerns and formally request a CB-CID probe.
The Centralized Admission Committee has filed a complaint with the Lawspet police,alleging that the applications of 44 candidates seeking admission under the NRI quota were fabricated. Student and parent associations have also highlighted that such fraudulent practices have been recurring for several years.
The letter submitted to the Chief Secretary emphasized the need for a comprehensive CB-CID investigation to identify and prosecute all individuals involved in the scam.
Those who met with the Chief Secretary included CPI Secretary,A.M. Saleem,CPI(M) Secretary,R.Rajangam, and CPI(M-L) S. Balasubramanian.
