INS Savitri, an Offshore Patrol Vessel of the Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam, will reach Kolkata on 23 November 2024 as part of Navy Day celebrations. The ship will be ceremonially escorted on the Hooghly River by Naval Patrol Boats and receive a grand welcome by an Officer-Of-The-Guard, representing the Naval Officer-in-Charge (West Bengal).
Built by Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai, and commissioned on 7 June 1990, INS Savitri stands as a testament to India’s indigenous shipbuilding capability. With a top speed of 15 knots (30 km/h), the ship boasts impressive features such as the 40×60 Bofors Gun and a helicopter deck capable of operating the Chetak helicopter.
