Following allegations of the use of brutal force against the civilians reportedly detained for questioning in connection with the movement of terrorists in the higher reaches of Kishtwar, the Indian Army, on Thursday, said an investigation is being launched to ascertain the facts in the matter.
Nagrota-based White Knight Corps stated in a post on X, “Based on specific intelligence of the move of a group of terrorists in the Kishtwar Sector, an operation was launched by the Rashtriya Rifles on 20 November 2024. There are some reports on the alleged ill-treatment of civilians during the conduct of the operation. An investigation is being launched to ascertain the facts. Necessary follow-up action will be ensured. Further moves of the group of terrorists are being monitored”.
According to ground reports, at least four civilians were called for questioning at the Chas camp of Mughal Maidan tehsil in Kishtwar district on Wednesday. When these individuals failed to return home until late evening, their families decided to visit the army camp to ask about their whereabouts. Before the families could reach the camp, these four civilians were released.
According to some of the videos circulated on social media platforms, the civilians were in bad shape with marks of brutal injuries on their person.
