President Droupadi Murmu witnessed an operational demonstration by the Indian Navy off the coast of Goa on Thursday, marking her first visit to Navy ships at sea.

Upon her arrival at INS Hansa, the naval air station, President Murmu was received with a ceremonial Guard of Honour comprising 150 personnel.

She then boarded the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, which was operational alongside 15 other frontline warships and submarines.

President Murmu witnessed a series of naval exercises, including deck-based fighter take-offs and landings, missile firing drills, submarine manoeuvres, and a flypast featuring over 30 aircraft. The demonstration concluded with a traditional steam-past of warships.

After observing the operations, President Murmu met with the crew of INS Vikrant for lunch and delivered an address to the fleet, which was broadcast to all Navy units at sea.
