Indian Army ‘successfully completes’ patrolling to a key point in Ladakh’s Depsang region

New Delhi/IBNS: Following the consensus between India and China ending the 4-year-old conflict along the Line of Actual Control (LAC)  in Ladakh, the army Monday informed that it “successfully completed” patrolling to one of the points in the Depsang region.

The 14 Corps, also known as the Fire and Fury Corps, in a post on X said: “Following the consensus reached between the Indian and Chinese Side for disengagement and resumption of patrolling in Depsang and Demchok, the Indian Army patrol to one of the patrolling points in Depsang was successfully conducted today.”

“This is yet another positive step towards maintaining peace and tranquillity on the LAC,” the Fire and Fury Corps said.

Earlier the Indian and Chinese troops exchanged sweets on the occasion of the Hindu festival of Diwali at five locations along LAC including two in Ladakh.

The disengagement was held at two points of Ladakh, Depsang and Demchok.

The troops of the two Asian giants returned to the status which prevailed before the deadly Galwan clash in 2020.

Last month, India and China reached a consensus and agreed to disengage along the border “in a coordinated and planned way”.

Both armies had agreed to withdraw from their positions to their respective positions on their sides and verify each others’ positions after that.

For over four years, the two countries were engaged in a military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) following the Galwan clash which took place in June 2020.
