Jhansi: The Sudarshan Chakra Corps of the Indian Army‘s Southern Command commenced Swavlamban Shakti exercise, a corps-level military exercise, at the Babina Field Firing Ranges on Friday. The exercise, which will continue until Oct 22, aims to integrate New Technology Equipment (NTEs) into the Army’s offensive strategies, ensuring readiness for future warfare scenarios.
Lt Gen Prit Pal Singh, General Officer commanding the Sudarshan Chakra Corps, presided over the commencement of the exercise.This initiative will help identify and prioritise critical technologies and equipment for future development and procurement. Around 1,800 personnel, 210 armoured vehicles, 50 specialist vehicles, and a range of aviation assets are participating in the exercise.
Over 50 new tech equipment from more than 40 prominent industry partners, including DRDO labs and emerging defence startups, are being showcased during the exercise. Some of the cutting-edge technology being evaluated includes Swarm Drones, Kamikaze Drones, Logistic Swarm Drones, Handheld Drone Jammers, Software Defined Radio-based Mobile Ad Hoc Network Systems, Robotic Mules, All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)/Light Armoured Multipurpose Vehicles (LAMVs), Guided Precision Aerial Delivery Systems (GPADS), LASER-based Communication Systems, Directed Energy Weapons, and indigenously developed long-endurance UAVs. Swavlamban Shakti is a significant step towards fostering collaboration between the Indian Army and the defence industry, facilitating the development of cutting-edge solutions for multi-domain warfare.
Aligned with the government’s vision for ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat‘, the exercise will provide valuable support to defence industry partners as they work together to drive innovation and self-reliance in the defence sector.
As part of the exercise, the Southern Star Drone Mela and Static Equipment Display will be organised on October 22 with the aim of boosting indigenous defence manufacturing capability in the fields of drone and anti-drone technologies. The event will provide an opportunity for young entrepreneurs and MSMEs to showcase and validate their capabilities while operating in a modern, technology-intensive battlefield.
