The 128 Infantry Battalion Ecological, Rajputana Rifles, marked the Territorial Army Platinum Jubilee Celebrations with a special plantation drive at Jaisalmer.

The initiative, held under the Prime Minister’s campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ and the unit’s outreach programme ‘Bhagidari and Zimmedari’, aimed at enhancing ecological restoration and promote environmental awareness among local residents.

Multiple stakeholders, including the Army, Air Force, Border Security Force, Jaisalmer Administration, the police, and Border Wing Home Guards, participated in the drive. Sankalp Taru NGO, and students from various educational institutions also joined hands with the security forces to make the drive successful.

The drive was held at seven different locations across Jaisalmer. It demonstrated a united effort towards community development and environmental conservation.

Under the banner of ‘Protect Trees: Those Who Protect the Trees are Protected,’ the unit achieved several world records, which have been provisionally recognised by the World Book of Records, London.

Among the world records broken were most saplings planted by a team in one hour, most saplings planted by a team of women in one hour and most people planting saplings simultaneously at a single venue.

This effort underscored the commitment of the Army to environmental sustainability and community service. The success of this initiative contributes significantly to ecological restoration in the region and also serves as an inspiring example for communities nationwide to engage in proactive environmental conservation efforts.
