PANJIM: It is indeed sad for the family of Bashudev Bhandari of Bharuch, Gujarat, that his body or whereabouts have not been traced. It was on the intervening night of 31 August and 1 September, that two persons Yasim Gous and Salman Gous both of Belgaum chased, Bashudev and his girlfriend, a student of a management college, Sankhali, with their Toyota Etios car. While the girl escaped from the sinking car, Bashudev is still missing.
Mystery surrounds the disappearance of Bashudev Bhandari who had come to Goa from Gurajat. A night out with his friend from a management college turned into tragedy when their car hit another car at Marcela on their way to Panjim from Sankhali. Since they did not stop the two suspects Yasim Gous and Salman Gous both of Belgaum chased them
Not knowing the roads, Bashudev drove the car to the St Estevao ferry ramp. While the girl managed to jump out of the car and swam to safety, the whereabouts of Bashudev are still not known.
Balaram brother of Bashudev Bhandari filed a complaint with the Old Goa Police against unknown accused persons chased his brother. When they reached the ferry point at Tolto, St.Estevam, there was no any option to reverse their car due to blockage of the way by the said Toyota Etios car from behind
Hence out of fear the complainant’s brother drove his car towards left hand side of the ferry ramp, to which their car went in the river and sunk.
Bashudev Bhandari, age 22 yrs went missing over the issue of road rage. He also said that the accused persons had also threatened the complainant’s brother and his girlfriend with dire consequences to kill
Yasim Gous and Salman Gous were traced by Old Goa Police to Hubli on 7 September 2024.
Old Goa Police, coastal Police, Indian Navy and Fire and Emergency services continuously searched for Bashudev but could not find him
Old Goa Police in separate operation formed 4 teams and trace the car which chased the car of victim girl and her missing boyfriend to Hubli.
The accused had come to Panjim to play at a casino and were travelling back to Belgaum on early hours. They met with a minor accident with the rent a car of the missing person at Marcel in the wee hours of September 1.
