He emphasized that this contribution is Renault’s way of showing gratitude for the army’s vital service and further that Renault aims to improve the army’s mobility and logistical efficiency. The move also emphasizes the automaker’s focus on the “Make in India” initiative.
Renault Cars in India: Kwid, Triber And Kiger
Renault currently has three models in its India lineup: Kwid (hatchback), Kiger (sub-compact SUV), and Triber (sub-compact crossover MPV). Each of these caters to a different set of buyers.
Renault Kwid
Renault Kwid is one of the most affordable hatchbacks you can buy in India today. It is available in four variants-RXE, RXL (O), RXT, and Climber- and is powered by a 1-litre petrol engine delivering 68 PS and 91 Nm, with transmission options including a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. The feature list includes an 8-inch Media NAV system, keyless entry, and manual AC. Safety features like dual front airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear parking sensors, and hill start assist are also offered.
Renault Kwid is priced between ₹4.70 lakh and ₹6.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes with models like the Maruti Alto K10 and S-Presso. The top-spec Climber variant could also target entry-level variants of the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.
Renault Kiger
The Kiger is probably the best-selling model for Renault in India. This sub-compact SUV comes in five variants- RXE, RXL, RXT, RXT (O), and RXZ- and with two petrol engines: a 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol (72 PS/96 Nm) and a 1-litre turbo-petrol (100 PS/up to 160 Nm). Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual, a 5-speed AMT, and a CVT automatic (on the Turbo variant).
The Kiger gets features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver display, auto AC, a wireless phone charger, and cruise control (in turbo variants only). It also comes with safety features such as four airbags, hill start assist, rear parking sensors and camera, and TPMS.
This SUV is priced in the 6 – 11.23 lakh range (ex-showroom, Delhi) and competes with other sub-compact SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Tata Punch, Hyundai Venue, and Tata Nexon.
Renault Triber
The Triber is a sub-compact MPV available in both 6 and 7-seater iterations. It comes in four variants: RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXZ. Based on the CMF-A+ platform, it is powered by a 1-litre petrol engine producing 72 PS and 96 Nm. It can be had with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Key equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, electrically adjustable ORVMs (outside rear view mirrors) and push-button start/stop. There are four airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and TPMS offered as well.
The MPV has its ex-showroom prices in the range of 6- 8.98 lakh. While it doesn’t have direct competitors, the Triber makes for an extremely pocket-friendly alternative to seven-seaters like the Ertiga and Carens. It also faces competition from many midsize and B-segment hatchbacks.
