Imphal, August 31 2024:
Commemorating the National Small Industry Day, Indian Army organised an interactive session at Leimakhong on Friday, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency among local residents.
The event attracted 50 villagers and provided them with valuable insights into starting and managing small-scale enterprises.
Responding to local requests, the Army announced the establishment of a Bead Jewellery unit at P Moulding village, where women will receive specialised training from entrepreneurs associated with ASEEM Foundation, a Pune-based NGO.
As a precursor to this initiative, an Army Officer conducted a practical session on business planning, financing, and supply chain management, equipping participants with the essential skills needed to succeed in their ventures.
This effort is part of the Indian Army ‘s broader Operation Sadbhavna, which has launched six similar projects across Manipur, including the establishment of bakery units, cosmetic units, and a Yarn Bank in Bishnupur, Yaingangpokpi, and Leimakhong.
These initiatives are designed to provide business opportunities for youth and empower local women, fostering a spirit of self-reliance and economic growth in the region.
