IMPHAL, Aug 29: Celebrating the National Sports Day today, the Indian Army observed various sports events at Imphal, Bishnupur and Kangpokpi today.
As part of Operation Sadbhavana, the Army organised volleyball, badminton and football matches in line with the Nation’s Fit India and Khelo India Movement.
In Khurkhul village, the Army organised a volleyball and a badminton match between students from Sardar Patel High School and Khurukhul Model Standard School.
The Army distributed sports gear to enhance sports infrastructure in the schools.
At Keihao village, the Army organized a friendly football match to foster peace and solidarity in the conflict-affected region.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from local youths.
The Indian Army also organised various sports activities for school students of Anita Standard High School and Radiant Public School, and a volleyball match between the locals and the school children in Phougakchao Ikhai of Bishnupur district.
The children from Anita Standard High School and Radiant Public School actively participated in fun and competitive events such as the sac race, relay race, jalebi race, and tug of war.
