Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. (BEML) has signed a key memorandum of understanding with the Directorate of Marine Engineering under the Indian Navy, aiming to advance indigenous marine engineering. The agreement was signed at the Naval Headquarters in Delhi by BEML’s Defence Director, Ajit Kumar Srivastav, and Rear Admiral K Srinivas, ACOM (D&R) of the Indian Navy.

According to BEML, this agreement marks a significant step towards boosting collaboration in the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and support of critical marine equipment and systems within India. The partnership is aligned with the broader goal of increasing self-reliance in defense production, reducing reliance on foreign imports.

The collaboration is set to enhance India’s marine engineering capabilities, ensuring that both current and future naval projects are supported by cutting-edge, domestically produced technology. BEML highlighted that this alliance will address immediate operational needs while also strengthening long-term defense infrastructure.
