The meeting is the first such conference being held in the country as the combined commanders conference addressed by the Prime minister would now be held every two years instead of being the usual annual affair.

This will be the first time that a platform has been created where all the military commanders from the three services will come together to discuss the ongoing transformation in defence forces, like the creation of theatre commands and establishing a sense of jointness among the forces.

The theaterisation process of the armed forces is being taken forward by the Department of Military Affairs headed by CDS General Anil Chauhan.

The Indian military is preparing for a future where all the three services will fight the wars of the future jointly. The meeting will also take into consideration the ‘Make in India’ programme of the forces and induction of defence equipment in the three services.
