To enhance naval cooperation and interoperability, the First Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy, consisting of INS Tir and ICGS Veera, arrived at the Port of Manama, Bahrain, on October 12, 2024. This visit is part of the Long Range Training Deployment in the Persian Gulf, focusing on collaborative maritime operations with the Royal Bahrain Naval Forces (RBNF).

During their port call, the Indian Navy aims to engage in a series of professional interactions and activities designed to foster collaboration. Planned events include cross-ship visits, joint training sessions, yoga workshops, band concerts, friendly sports fixtures, and community welfare initiatives. Additionally, sea trainees from the Indian Navy will tour various training facilities and establishments of the RBNF, providing them with valuable exposure to different naval training methodologies.

A key aspect of the visit is a coordination meeting between the operational teams of both navies, aimed at planning and executing a Maritime Partnership Exercise. The engagement will also include cooperative interactions with partners of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), reinforcing the commitment to maritime security in the region.

In a parallel development, INS Shardul from the 1TS made a port visit to Port Rashid, Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. The ship was received by the Defence Attaché at the Embassy of India and officials from the UAE Navy. This visit aims to facilitate multiple training activities and harbor interactions with the UAE Navy, further strengthening ties between the two nations.

The deployment of the First Training Squadron to Bahrain and the UAE not only seeks to enhance naval training activities but also aims to deepen socio-political, military, and maritime linkages. This visit is a testament to the growing defense relations between India, Bahrain, and the UAE, bolstering maritime security cooperation and promoting enhanced synergy among their respective navies.

As the Indian Navy continues to build on its strategic partnerships in the region, these engagements underscore India’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters.
