Odisha Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo on Saturday assured of stern action in the alleged assault of Major Gurvansh Singh, an Indian Army officer of the Sikh Regiment, and sexual harassment of his fiancee at Bharatpur Police Station.
He also slammed former CM Naveen Patnaik for commenting on the law and order situation in Odisha. Speaking to media persons, Deo said, “The Chief Minister’s office has already taken the step that had to be taken.”
The Deputy CM also launched a scathing attack on former CM Naveen Patnaik over his comments on the law and order situation in Odisha and said, “Before telling us anything, he should look to what he did during the Naba Kishore Das assassination case.”
Earlier, the LoP Naveen Patnaik had targeted the BJP government and said, “This is very shocking. We demand a full judicial inquiry into the matter and action must be taken quickly.”
Former BJD leader Soumya Ranjan Patnaik also came down heavily on Naveen Patnaik and said, “We just cannot say that the law and order situation is deteriorating just because of one incident. All I can say is that we have to give more time to this newly formed government.”
“I do not represent any party now. But, those who were on hibernation during their rule have come out of their holes and holding press conferences. I think they have forgotten their own deeds. Let us give time to Mohan Majhi government till December. If the condition continues even after New Year, then I will agree with whatever people say,” he added.
